Meet Shawn Bates

Shawn Bates was born and raised in Wichita Falls, where the handshake still matters — and a commitment is taken seriously. Before launching his career in construction, Shawn was selected in the 1994 MLB Draft by the Baltimore Orioles — an early lesson in what it takes to perform at a national level with discipline, precision, and pressure.

After earning his Bachelor’s degree in Business from Midwestern State University, Shawn built his construction career from the ground up — across both residential and commercial. With more than 20 years in the industry, he’s now recognized for projects that are done right: on time, on budget, and with uncompromising quality.

In 2004, Shawn founded his first construction company and scaled it through honesty, craftsmanship, and word-of-mouth trust. That same foundation fuels Hometown Contracting today — a company built on local relationships and national-standard professional execution. Shawn leads with transparency, straight communication, and clean job sites that reflect an obsessive pride in detail.

Shawn is a member of the North Texas Homebuilders Association and is actively expanding community involvement efforts, including future partnership initiatives with Habitat for Humanity — giving back through the same craft that built his own career.
